The BJP leaders said all is well within the party despite the rift within BJP Zilla Panchayat members and expressed confidence that the post of President and Vice President in Zilla Panchayat will be adorned by BJP candidates on October 12.

Speaking to media persons, Minister for Port, Muzrahi and Inland Water Transport Kota Srinivas Poojary said flaws are common and differences within the party members in a political party is nothing new.

Especially during special occasions, one can expect political turmoil and BJP is prepared to face any sort of problem. He added that so called rebel faction members have not kept any demand before the party.

They were invited for talks and attempts were made to patch up the differences. However, everything seemed to be going well and at the last moment, we could not arrive on time to the house as negotiations were on with the reluctant members. “We do have high respect for Panchayat Raj system and sometimes it does happen that we are forced to go for extreme measures,” he added.

MLA Raghupathy Bhat said that the rebel faction members will be held responsible for whatever inconveniences that have taken place. All confusions are the result of the behaviors of those eight members who are adamant on their demand. There will be no change in the nominees from BJP that is Upendra Nayak for President post and Indira Shetty for Vice President post.

However, if BJP had been to the house to attend the poll process, the Congress candidates would have easily got elected. “The eight members appealed us not to attend the poll process to avoid the Congress candidates getting elected,” he added.

He said if these people go ahead with the same demands and behave in the similar manner, the BJP high command will be informed about the matter and action will be taken against them.

District President Uday Kumar Shetty expressed confidence that everything will be set right and the differences within the party members will be sorted out.
He said since three to four days some people in the party created confusion. However the nominees were chosen taking the opinions of all the members in the meeting held on October 3.

“We have spoken to all and three of them have already said that they have no issues against supporting the party candidates. These three members are from Kundapur taluk,” he said but refused to name them. He also refused to reveal the demands of the members of rebel faction.
