Elam wins marathon
Army Sports Institute runners Elam Singh and Ashish Singh Chauhan emerged triumphant in the men’s races with comfortable wins while Commonwealth Games medalist Kavita Raut edged out Monika Athare for the women’s title in the Vasai-Virar Mayor’s marathon on Sunday.
Elam Singh clinched the men’s marathon in a relaxed 2 hours, 21 minutes and 58 seconds, leaving in his wake his more fancied and more experienced ASI team-mate Bining Lyngkhoi to settle for the second place in 2:25:10.
