Zee Television group today alleged a private company had offered bribe to its journalist and business head to block airing a negative story about the company in connection with alleged scam in coal block allocation.

"Jindals tried to bribe our channel's journalist and then our business head. Jindals also tried to pressurise me and made several calls when I was in US," Zee Group Chairman, Subhash Chandra said in conversation with media leaders at the Press Club here.

Last week, Naveen Jindal had filed a complaint with Delhi Police against Zee News charging that its senior journalists had demanded Rs 50 crore for not doing a story on coal block scam. The charge was rejected by Sudhir Chaudhar, the head of Zee Business, as a "fabrication".

Chandra also said his journalists were not involved in any wrongdoing and asserted that the accusations were false.

"This kind of allegation has happened in the past and may happen in the future. It doesn’t make any difference to us and we will stick to the truth. These are all pressure tactics," Punit Goenka, Managing Director and Chief Executive, said earlier.
