On the occasion of Vijayadashmi on Wednesday, BJP workers burnt effigies of corruption, price rise, increased power tariff and FDI symbolising Ravan at more than 30 prominent places across the national capital.

BJP state president Vijender Gupta burnt the effigies saying Aaj Ka Ravan, highlighting the burning issues of corruption, price rise, power tariff hike and foreign direct investment in retail in Vasant Kunj, Samrat Chowk and Shakurpur.

Gupta told people that if Ram Rajya was to be established then corrupt, despotic and anti-people Congress state government should be shown the door in the next Assembly elections.

Leader of opposition in state assembly Vijay Kumar Malhotra also set similar effigies on fire at Dussehra Ground in Chirag Dilli.

Malhotra appealed to the thousands of party workers present there that they should visit every household and request the people to dislodge Congress government because it had lost its capacity to rule.

Burning the effigies in Patel Nagar, senior BJP leader Vani Tripathi said, “Time has come for the people to take revenge from the Congress government for all the atrocities committed by it.”

“People should replace Dikshit government with BJP which is committed to providing a respected and honourable living to all the city residents,” Tripathi added. The district president Rajesh Bhatia was also present on the occasion.

The saffron party members also burnt similar effigies in Kalu Ram Chowk Mehrauli, Tuglakabad Village, Tuglakabad Extension, Pul Prahladpur, Dwarka, Mother Dairy, New Seema Puri, Trilok Puri, Rohini and Mukundpur Burari.
