Delhi reported 39 fresh cases of dengue on Monday taking the total to 949. If the trend of the past two weeks continues, when each day has registered more than 30 cases, its a matter of a couple of days when the 1,000 mark will be crossed.

Areas under South Delhi Municipal Corporation kept up the lead with 18 cases. North Corporation reported 13 and East corporation registered eight cases. New Delhi Municipal Council did not re account for any fresh case on Monday.

Out of the total, 940 originated in Delhi, while nine cases originated from other states.

Last year 709 cases were reported till October 29. The gap between the two years has increased substantially in the last one week.

While 2012 had registered 138 more cases than 2011 by October 22, the gap has increased to 231 by Monday.

However, officials still say  the situation is not bad.

EDMC is holding a blood donation camp at its headquarter’s auditorium in Patparganj on Tuesday.
