A Division Bench of the High Court of Karnataka headed by Justice D V Shylendra Kumar on Wednesday directed the police to produce Jayagopal, the brother of Surendra Babu, accused of murdering his wife (actor Hemashree), before the Court on November 9. Surendra Babu is presently in judicial custody.

Ramaiah, father-in-law of Hemashree, had filed a habeas corpus petition saying that his second son, Jayagopal, had gone missing after the arrest of Babu. He had alleged that the police had detained him without producing him before the Court.

The High Court has also directed Ramaiah to appear before it for the next hearing on November 9.

Hemashree allegedly died of overdose of anaesthesia while she was being taken to Ananthpur in Andhra Pradesh by Babu. She was declared brought dead at a City hospital.
