Fathima in U-14 semis

Mysore, Nov 14, 2012, DHNS:

Fathima Juveria defeated third seed Bhumika Srihari 6-2, 6-1 to enter the under-14 girls’ singles semifinals of the Diwali Cup AITA Talent Series junior tennis championship at the RTC Courts here on Wednesday.

Juveria also reached the last four stage in the under-12 section beating Prarthana Prabhakar 4-2, 4-1. In the boys’ under-14 section, top seed Rahul Shankar cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Siddarth Gowda while Vijay Rajashekar registered a hard-fought 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) win over Kiran Deva.

Venkatachalam got the better of Pramukh 6-1, 6-3 and Varun Shenoy put it past Ajay Kalipalli 7-5, 6-0 to complete the semifinal line-up.

Results (Quarterfinals): Boys singles: U-14: Rahul Shankar bt Siddarth Gowda 6-1, 6-2; Venkatachalam bt Pramukh 6-1, 6-3; Varun Shenoy bt Ajay Kalipalli 7-5, 6-0; Vijay Rajashekar bt Kiran Deva 6-4, 7-6 (7-3). U-12: Kiran Deva bt Inigo Arnold 5-4 (7-2), 4-2; Vimal Raj bt Chandan Reddy 4-1, 4-1; Arjun Sriram bt Rifat Shaikh 5-4 (7-5 ), 4-2; MD Shreyas bt Sandesh 4-0, 4-0.

Girls singles: U-14: Muskan Rajan bt Srishti Pai 6-3, 6-1; Prathibha Prabhakar bt Pragathi 6-1, 6-1; Fathima Juveria bt Bhumkia Srihari 6-2, 6-1; Ashika D Urs bt Prathiba Prasad 6-4, 6-2. U-12: Muskan Ranjan bt Chelsa Stephen 4-2, 4-2; Megha Muthukumaran bt Jina 4-2, 4-0; Fathima Juveria bt Prarthana Prabhakar 4-2, 4-1; Prathibha Prasad bt Priya Nayak 4-0, 4-1.
