Yeddyurappa spews venom against Advani, Shettar, Hegde

Last Updated 17 November 2012, 17:46 IST

Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, who is all set to launch his Karnataka Janata Party, on Saturday launched a scathing attack on senior BJP leader L K Advani, Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar and former Lokayukta N Santosh Hegde.

Speaking at a programme at Nyamati in Honnali taluk, he even addressed Santosh Hegde in singular and invited him for a televised discussion. “I saw your statements against me in today’s papers. My blood is boiling. I will not become an accused if you make false allegations against me,” he breathed fire against Hegde.

The former chief minister said he will show his strength in the elections and prove that all the allegations were wrong. “I was the one who stopped illegal mining in Chitradurga and Tumkur. I asked you to file a report on illegal mining. You may have doubts about me, but it is not fair to make wild allegations,” he lashed out at Hegde.

Yeddyurappa’s diatribe did not even spare Advani. “I treated Advani and Vajapayee as my eyes. I worshipped them like gods. But Advani termed Karnataka as No 1 in corruption. Ananth Kumar made him say this. Advaniji, your Ananth Kumar is the one who sold Ashoka
Hotel. I condemn Advani for speaking lightly of me...,” he said.

He said the garbage problem did not exist in Bangalore when he was the chief minister. “Look at the situation today. Do you think the present chief minister is fit to be in that chair...,” he asked the audience. “Mr Shettar, you will be in the opposition in three to four months and I will be in power,” Yeddyurappa challenged the chief minister.
