Palike gets Rs 1,663 crore for development projects

The State government has sanctioned Rs 1,663 crore to the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) for various development projects, said Mayor D Venkatesh Murthy.

Speaking to mediapersons, he listed out the grants the Palike received for its projects.
Of the total amount sanctioned, Rs 618 crore has been allocated for the construction of five signal-free corridors at Dr Rajkumar Road, Old Madras Road, Outer Ring Road, Hoodi to Old Madras Road and Hosur-Lashkar Road from Forum Mall.

Tenders have been floated and by December-end the process will be completed. In January, the Palike will sign contractors for projects, he said. Under TenderSure scheme, the Palike will spend Rs 200 crore for developing 45 roads in the City. Seven roads will be developed in the first phase. The Bangalore City Connect Foundation has submitted a project report he said.

Besides, five grade seperators will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 195 crore. Of the five grade seperators, four will come up on West of Chord Road near Shivanahalli - Manjunathnagar Junction, Rajajinagar 10th Cross Road, Shivananda Circle and Magadi Road, he said.

The Palike will also take up 13 road-widening projects at an estimated cost of Rs 60 crore, in the newly added BBMP areas. Of the funds sanctioned, Rs 140 crore will be used for asphalting and upkeep of 86 roads.
