NEW DELHI, Nov 18, 2012, DHNS:

A 72-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a fast moving train on Sunday afternoon at Patel Chowk Metro station situated on Yellow line of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.

The dead is identified as A B Charan, a resident of Palwal, Haryana and a retired government servant.

The incident occurred at around 1.30 pm.

“We received a call at police control room and rushed to the spot,” said a police official.
“The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead,” added the official.

The investigators recovered a suicide note from the spot.

Suicide note

“I was not satisfied with the way my sons used to behave with me, following the death of my wife, nothing went in the right direction and a particular man has borrowed Rs 4 lakh from me,” read the suicide note.

The investigators examined closed circuit television footages and found that Charan was waiting at the station and when a train came towards the platform, he jumped in front of the train.

Foul play

Police have ruled out any foul play. “We are waiting for the victim’s family members and will record their statement,” said the official.
