Arrested scribe handcuffed

The District Armed Reserve (DAR) police personnel handcuffed scribe Naveen Soorinje while taking him to the court on Tuesday.

The handcuffed Naveen was taken from jail to the court and back to the jail.

Expressing displeasure over handcuffing, Naveen’s advocate Sathish Bantwal said that
“Supreme Court has given direction in Prem Shankar Shukla case that an undertrial should not be handcuffed. In case, if an undertrial had made any attempt to escape, then permission should be obtained from the court before handcuffing an undertrial. My client had not made any attempt to escape. He was handcuffed to insult him in public,” advocate  said.

The copy of the stay order issued by the High Court, on FIR against Soorinje, was produced before the Third JMF court on Tuesday.
