Auto driver assaulted

Unidentified miscreants assaulted an auto driver, near Surathkal on Tuesday night.

According to the police, the injured is Ismail. The incident occured when he was returning home. A group of six members waylaid him and assaulted him. Ismail has been admitted to Srinivas Hospital in Mukka. He was active member of Jaya Karnataka association. A case has been registered.

Chain snatching

Two unidentified miscreants snatched two chains worth Rs 1.5 lakh belonging to Celestine Pereira at Pernal near Shirva on Tuesday.

According to police, the incident took place when Celestine Pereira was returning home after attending St Mary feast at Pernal Church in Shirva.

The miscreants who came on bike snatched away the chains worn by Celestine Pereira near Adivasi education center at around 9.30 pm. A case has been registered in Shirva police
station.

2 held

The police have arrested two persons for keeping a pig’s body, in Demmele masjid, at Mallur.

The arrested are Pavan Kumar (20) and Avinash (23), residents of Pudu village in Bantwal taluk.
