57 teams from 27 states take part in badminton meet

A new national record has been created with the participation of 57 teams from 27 states at the 32nd National Boys and Girls Sub Junior Ball Badminton Championship organised by Karnataka Ball Badminton Association and Alva's Educational Institutions at Vidyagiri Grounds in Moodbidre on Wednesday.

National Ball Badminton Federation Vice President R Rajgopal Mutthukrishna inaugurated the 32nd national tourney. "Alva's Institution is training 30 ball badminton players by providing free education and hostel facilities. This is indeed appreciable. Students should make use of such facilities and opportunities,” he advised.

MLA Abhay Chandra Jain remembered his father M K Ananthraj who was recognised as a national-level ball badminton player at Banaras University.

"My father has given training to Union Minister Veerappa Moily and Former MLA Amarnatah Shetty in Ball Badminton," he said.

Alva's Education Institutions Chairperson Dr M Mohan Alva, Former MLA Amarnath Shetty, Institution Trustee Jayashree Amarnath Shetty, National Ball Badminton Federation General Secretary Y Rajrao and others were present.

Flags of National Ball Badminton Federation, State Ball Badminton Federation and Alva's Educational Institutions were unfurled.
