Delhi's circle rates hiked

Substantial increase made only in category A and B colonies

Delhi cabinet on Wednesday increased the circle rates in Delhi in order to “make them just, reasonable and affordable keeping in view the categories for valuation for property tax as formulated by the civic bodies”. 

While briefing the media after the cabinet meeting, Dikshit stated that the circle rates in Delhi were last revised in November, 2011 and are quite less than the prevailing market rates at which transactions are taking place.

The existing circle rate in category A colonies is Rs 2,15,000 per square meter which has been hiked to Rs 6,45,000 per square meter. The colonies falling under category A are posh colonies such as Defence Colony and Golf links.

The current rate in category B is Rs 1,36,400  per square meter which has now become
Rs 2,04,600.

While affecting hike in circle rates of colonies falling under category C,D,E,F, G and H, the Delhi cabinet took a sympathetic view, tells Sheila Dikshit, and thus increased it only marginally. 

 In category C colonies, the present rate of Rs 1,09,200 per square meter has been increased to Rs 1,33,224. The new circle rate in category D is Rs 1,06,384 while the old one was 87,200.

Similarly, the rates in category E and F have been marginally increased from Rs 47,840 to Rs 58,365 and from Rs 38,640 to Rs 47,140 respectively.

In case of category G and H colonies, the existing rate of Rs 31,510 has been increased to Rs 38,442 and the rate of Rs 15,870 increased to Rs 19,361 respectively.

The circle rates in Delhi were first introduced on July 18, 2007, which were further rationalised in February and November 2011.

Reimbursement of wages

The cabinet also gave its nod to a proposal of department of law, justice and legislative affairs for reimbursement of 50 per cent of minimum wages for unskilled category for engagement of peon-cum-home orderlies for judicial officers for their residential camp office.
