“In the days to come, the textiles and apparel sector in the state will improve further because of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor. A lot of facilities will be provided in the six zones being set up along the corridor,” said Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot.

Inaugurating Vastra 2012, the four-day international textile and apparel fair in Jaipur on Thursday, he said the state has a lot of potential in the textile sector and hoped that the event will help boost the export potential.

“The Central government is also focusing on encouraging the manufacturing sector and textiles is a major component,” he added.

Industries minister Rajendra Pareek said, “Every sector in the state needs skilled manpower and so the state government is focusing on starting new schemes to train the workforce.”  This will enable the state to convert the increasing population into a productive asset, he added.

The state will soon have a new textile policy by March next year which will give a huge boost to the sector, said Pareek and added that the fair will now be organised annually.
The exposition began with much fanfare this morning with foreign buyers thronging the venue and completing registration details.
