People's problems

Irregular garbage clearance

The garbage clearance and cleaning in 15th Cross Lakkasandra (ward 145) between 2nd Main and Mosque is most distressing, whereas in the adjoining areas cleaning is done regularly and satisfactorily.

The above mentioned stretch is the most neglected and representations in this regard have not been acted upon. The sweeper allotted is a frequent absentee and ad hoc arrangements are made regularly.

The men so put on duty only do half hearted work, as this being a extra job. The residents are suffering due to pile of garbage and have been facing health risk for more than an year.

The commissioner of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike is requested to take note of the sorry srtate of affairs and come to the rescue of aggrieved residents by ensuring regular and efficient garbage cleaning.

Instal streetlights

There are no streetlights in II Block, BTM IV stage, opp New RTO Office in the layout formed by the Bangalore Development Authority. Mine is the lone house on the street and absence of streetlights has led to anti-social activities in the area.

My house has been burgled twice and inebriated people have become a nuisance. My requests to Bescom and BBMP have gone in vain with each blaming the other. Even the night patrol parties do not come to the area. I am unable to live in the newly constructed house and I am keeping security personnel for safety. Installation of a streetlight could address the problem.

Clogged drains in Thanisandra

The road leading from Thanisandra Main Road to Vidyasagara (Sarayapalya) village is in pathetic condition. The drainage is in very bad shape. The drainage is clogged hampering flow of rain water. Several reminders to the Palike officials have not resulted in any action. Further, there is no dustbin to dispose of garbage.

The pile up on the road side stinks whenever it rains and has turned out to be a breeding place for mosquitoes. The residents are falling sick frequently. The authorities concerned are requested to take action to ameliorate the plight of residents.

Water scarcity on OTC Road

The residents of OTC Road  (Dharamarayana Swamy Temple Road) have been facing acute drinking water since February 2012. Several complaints were lodged on the customer care centre number 22238888, but of no use.

Mails sent to the office of the BWSSB chairman have not elicited any response. The officials concerned are so careless that they have not bothered even to visit the spot till date. We have been buying water from tankers paying huge sum. We hope the authorities concerned will look into the matter and provide respite at the earliest.

Provide switches for streetlights

The streetlights in Chinnanna Layout First Main and surrounding areas of Kavalbysandra have not been provided with common control switch or individual switches.

Public at large use loose wires hanging from the poles are used to switch on and switch of the lights everyday. It a dangerous practice and the authorities concerned are requested to provide a common control switchboard.

No water supply for three months

The residents served by the water supply line on the upper side of the 16th ‘C’ Main, 4th Block in Koramangala used to get very irregular and inadequate water supply since the beginning of this year. However, even this supply has stopped completely for the past three months while the other areas in the vicinity continue to receive regular water supply.

Over the past nine months, I have met every available BWSSB contact point  - the call center, the local office attendant, the linesman, the local BWSSB engineer, and every single designated senior in the hierarchy right up to those in Cauvery Bhavan in person.

The effort has yielded either no action or only one or two days of trickling supply for a short time. While every official told me about the reduced water pressure and supply, excessive demand etc, but no one has been able to explain why 10 years of adequate supply suddenly dwindled to zero only on our road.

So far, writing to the BWSSB chairman's office and their PRO on the two available emails ids for the entire BWSSB has not resulted even in an acknowledgement. Every month, however, I faithfully continue to pay my bills for a completely dry connection. I once again request the BWSSB chairman to intervene and resolve the issue.

You had carried my grievance in your column on October 29, 2012, of not getting the monthly electricity bills, for  seven months, since April to October. I sincerely thank you very much, for the help you have done in this regard. The concerned AEE and other officials of S-4 subdivision, Koramangala branch of Bescom office, personally visited our premises and assured to set right the problem. The next day I received the bills which
I already promptly paid.  I also thank the Bescom officials, for solving the problem.

Resale of tickets for toy train

Sold tickets are collected for resale to ride the toy train at the Kempabudhi Park of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike. Both the tasks are handled by the same person. Is this arrangement known to the department concerned?

Repair work at night  disturbing sleep

Some repair, renovation and carpentry work is going on at the premises of a company situated on M N Krishna Rao Road in Basavanagudi. The nocturnal work starts every day at 10 pm and continues all through the night and ends in early morning by 5 am.
Despite Hoysala police visits and advice, this nightly work with considerable
noise is causing serious disturbance and loss of sleep to all neighbours living on the Road.

Through this column, we request the persons concerned take note of the recent order of the Karnataka High Court and stop this nocturnal activity immediately.

We want to sleep

peacefully in the night which is our right.
Residents of M N Krishna Rao Road and members of Basavanagudi Nagarika Samithi, Basavanagudi.
