JOIN USIndian women’s doubles pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and Pradnya Gadre reached the quarterfinals of the Macau Open Badminton Grand Prix Gold on Thursday.
Pradnya and Ashwini edged out Thai pair of Rodjana Chuthabunditkul and Chanida Julrattanamanee 25-23, 21-19 in the pre-quarters. Ashwini then combined with Tarun Kona to overcome Chi-Lin Wang and Hsaio Ma Pai of Taipei 21-17, 22-20 in the mixed doubles pre-quarterfinals.
In the men’s singles, 12th seed R M V Guru Sai Dutt scored an upset win over seventh seed Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka of Indonesia 21-13, 21-18 to enter quarterfinals.
