A startling incident of child abuse came to light on Tuesday after parents of a four-year-old girl alleged that the LKG student was being subjected to sexual abuse by an employee of the school for the last one month.

The Jnanabharathi police on Tuesday filed a case against Sabu, the 24-year-old school bus cleaner at the St Sophia Convent at Nagarbhavi, block  VI.

Apprehending trouble, Sabu had left the lodging facility provided by the school management on Monday night. He was subsequently arrested at a friend’s house. Sabu is from Shivapura village near Gurumithkal in Yadgir district. He is married with two daughters. He joined the convent six months ago.

Both Sabu and the girl underwent check-up at Vani Vilas Hospital on Tuesday. The reports are still awaited. Police sources said it was deduced from preliminary medical reports and the complainants’ account that Sabu had forced the girl into the school toilet and abused her. “The girl was abused on several occasions in the last one month,” said a senior police official at the Jnanabharathi police station.

The victim’s parents sprang to action on Monday, after the girl complained of pain in private parts. “I dropped my daughter to school at 9 am on Monday. She complained of pain when I went to pick her up again at 1 pm. Her hair was disheveled and she was finding it difficult to walk. After returning home, she said Sabu took her to the toilet and abused her,” the girl’s mother told the police.
