UVCE wins sustainable design contest

Project MACRO of Team “UVCE” won the first prize in the 3D sustainable digital design of a futuristic, innovative, foldable, transformable vehicle using Autodesk products.

The Inventor Sustainable Design Competition 2012 was held recently at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras in Chennai.

The competition was organised by Indian Institute of Technology Madras and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) in association with Autodesk (NASDAQ: ADSK a leader in 3D design, engineering and entertainment software), academic partners ( IIT Delhi, IIT Gandhinagar, ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu, MSRIT Bangalore , PSG College of Technology , Coimbatore). The winners of the competition received cash prizes, prizes and certificates worth 1,00,000.

Ramesh S Pudale and Anand Geethagovindan, Education Solutions Specialists, Autodesk said that over 1100 teams from various Engineering colleges across the country registered for the competition and Autodesk received more than 400 designs for the competition. Teams submitted their innovative and sustainable designs for evaluation by the academic advisory committee.

The top 12 teams were shortlisted for evaluation by an eminent jury comprising of renowned industry and academic experts at the national competition.

The winners “Team UVCE” consisted of Vaisakh R, Arjun Premchandran and C Keerthivash, who were mentored by Dr C K Umesh, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, UVCE, K R Circle, Bangalore.

Dr Venugopal K R, Principal UVCE congratulated the winners and said that UVCE students are highly competitive and talented.
