Suicide pact; man dies, wife, son critical

 A 52-year-old man died while his wife and son are battling for life in a suicide pact under Udayagiri police station limits in the city on Wednesday.

Shabbir Usman of Kalyangiri, his wife Nazima, 45 years, and son Areez Ahmed are the victims. The trio had consumed poison and writhing in pain, when a relative visited the house around 4.30 pm. Soon they were rushed to K R Hospital, where Shabbir Usman was declared brought dead by the doctors.

According to police, Shabbir was owing a large amount to the tune of Rs 50 lakh and was under pressure from a close relative. Ahmed was dealing with fancy items. The condition of mother and son seems to be critical with both undergoing treatment at ICU of the hospital. A case has been registered.
