Tamil Nadu men in semis

Tamil Nadu outclassed Kerala 84-49 to reach the men’s semifinals of the 63rd Senior National basketball championships here on Wednesday.

C V Dinesh did the star turn for the Tamil Nadu men garnering 21 points while Hareesh Kharoth (16), Pratham Singh (14) and Rikin Dethani (12) chipped in.

Manoj Kumar (11) was the only one who made an impression for Kerala.

In the women’s section, Delhi entered the semifinals edging out Maharashtra 59-56. Madhu Kumari collected 23 points for Delhi and was well assisted by Manauti Passi (10).
Meanwhile, Karnataka made it to the quarterfinals with a 60-46 win over Madhya Pradesh. Reshma and Swathi shone with 10 points each for Karnataka.

Results: Men (Quarterfinals): Tamil Nadu: 84 (C V Dinesh 21, Hareesh Kharoth 16, Pratham Singh 14, Rikin Dethani 12) bt Kerala: 49 (Manoj Kumar 11, Bashil Philip 8, V Vakkachan 6). HT: 44-23; Services: 91 (Narendra Grewal 34, Dalip Kumar 22, Jairam Jaat 14, Smithin M Sethu 13) bt Indian Railways: 86 (Berdinent Carmel Joseph 31, Gagandeep Singh 19, Sunil Kumar 18, Bijender Kumar 11). HT: 47-38.

Pre–quarterfinals: Chhattisgarh: 59 (Sharwan Kumar 18, Sameer Rai 11, Vishambhar P 11) bt Delhi: 50 ( Vinay Kaushik 15, Shakti 10, Narender 7). HT: 19-23; Rajasthan: 94 (Vinod Kumar 29, Hirender Singh 18, Kamran Khan 18) bt Andhra Pradesh: 60 (Nihal Yadav 18, P S N Rajan 12, Ramesh Kumar 10). HT: 43-26.

Women (Quarterfinals): Delhi: 59 (Madhu Kumari 23, Manauti Passi 10) bt Maharashtra: 56 (Anamika 17, Sneha Rajguru 12, Renjusha Mathew 11). HT: 24-24; Tamil Nadu: 68 (Priya Raja 20, Soniya Joy 15, Linath Mura 13, M Adhirai 10) bt Kerala: 55 (Jeena P S 19, M Athiram 14) HT: 26-25.

Pre–quarterfinals: Punjab: 64 (Rajwinder Kaur 23, Sushma Rani 14) bt West Bengal: 38. HT: 33-23; Karnataka: 60 (Reshma 10, Swathi 10) bt Madhya Pradesh: 46. HT: 32-22.
