Two crushed under slabs

Two men were crushed to death under the granite slabs they were unloading from a lorry in Angata village of the taluk on Wednesday.

Police said Munegowda (32), Narasimhamurthy (40) and Krishnappa (45) were hired for unloading the slabs meant for the construction of a residential complex at the foot of Gopinatha Hills in Angata.

The slabs, said to have been stacked carelessly, came crashing on the three labourers. Munegowda and Naras­i­m­h­a­m­urthy, who suffered grievous head injuries, died on the spot. Krishnappa has been admitted to the district hospital in a serious condition. Police have registered a case of death due to negligence.
