Two men were crushed to death under the granite slabs they were unloading from a lorry in Angata village of the taluk on Wednesday.
Police said Munegowda (32), Narasimhamurthy (40) and Krishnappa (45) were hired for unloading the slabs meant for the construction of a residential complex at the foot of Gopinatha Hills in Angata.
The slabs, said to have been stacked carelessly, came crashing on the three labourers. Munegowda and Narasimhamurthy, who suffered grievous head injuries, died on the spot. Krishnappa has been admitted to the district hospital in a serious condition. Police have registered a case of death due to negligence.
