Kanpur/Alwar/Bilaspur:Jan 5, 2013 PTI

A teenaged student was gang  raped and murdered in Kanpur, another girl set herself ablaze in Alwar after a youth tried to rape her while a third one was slashed with a blade in Bilaspur for resisting sexual advances, in fresh cases of crimes against girls.

A class 11 student was murdered after being gang raped in Kanpur Dehat, her family alleged on Friday.

The girl was sexually assaulted and killed by her relatives after which her body was dumped on Thursday in a farm in Tidua Yakubpur, her family said in a police complaint.
Three persons have been arrested in this case, police said.

Self immolation

In Rajasthan’s Alwar district, a 19-year-old girl committed self immolation after a youth allegedly tried to rape her, the second such incident in the state this week.
The victim poured kerosene and set herself afire in her house in Alwar’s Laxmangarh on Thursday.

She was admitted to a local hospital and referred to Jaipur’s SMS government hospital where she died today, police said.

Just days earlier, a 14-year girl had tried to commit suicide by setting herself afire after she was allegedly raped by a 25-year-old youth in Pali district.

Slashed with blade

In another incident, a 16-year-old girl was attacked with a blade in Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh allegedly by an unidentified youth, when she tried to resist his sexual advances, leaving her critically injured, police said.

The incident took place yesterday in Paraswani village when the girl, also a class 11 student, was returning from school, superintendent of police Ratanlal Dangi said.
The accused allegedly stopped the girl on her way back home at an isolated place and attempted to outrage her modesty, he said.

When she resisted, the youth attacked her with a blade and fled when she raised an alarm, Dangi said.

The girl, who was profusely bleeding, has been admitted to a government hospital and is in a critical condition, he said.
