An elephant, which played havoc and put the authorities on tenterhooks for three days, was finally shifted to Mathigodu elephant camp from Kepula on the outskirts of Puttur, on Friday.
Elephant, named Lakshmisha, was shifted on an open special truck brought from Nagarahole.
Three tamed elephants --Abhimanyu, Harsha and Vikram--succeeded in pushing Lakshmisha, who was tranquilised on Thursday night, on to the truck. Abhimanyu pulled the rope around the neck of Lakshmisha and took him to the truck.
Harsha pushed the rogue elephant from behind and Vikram acted as an assistant, in shifting the elephant.
An official said that Lakshmisha will be tamed at the elephant camp.
At present, the pachyderm understands only Malayalam language. It will be given training in Kannada also.
The elephant turned violent while being transported from Uppinangady to Sullia for shifting wooden logs, on Tuesday afternoon.
Lakshmisha had smashed the parts of the truck. He was tranquilised and later subdued by Abhimanyu.
The elephant was tied to a tree in Puttur town on Wednesday morning.
However, the elephant grabbed mahout Chandran when he was walking in front of it and threw him a distance, killing him on the spot. A scared mahout Varadarajan, who was sitting on the elephant, jumped and sustained minor injuries. The elephant, belonging to Shiroor mutt was being looked after by Karunakara of Uppinangady. It had created panic in Udupi a few years ago by running amok near the Sri Krishna Mutt.
Three elephants brought to tame Lakshmisha were also shifted to the camp in another lorry.
