Fog continues to affect rail traffic across north and east India, with the Northern Railway cancelling at least 23 trains, including long-distance and local, on Sunday while over 40 others were running behind schedule.

Major trains like Howrah-Delhi Express, Samastipur-Anand Vihar Express, Anand Vihar-Rewa Express, Anand Vihar-Rajendra Nagar Express, Delhi-Kotdwar Express and Delhi-Chandigarh Express have been cancelled.

Moreover, over 40 trains covering different stations in the city have been delayed by three to 30 hours.

At least 13 trains that were supposed to reach here on Saturday, reached the capital on Sunday.

“While Rewa Express reached the city late by 32 hours, Farakka Express was late by 28 hours,” said a senior Northern Railway official.

“Similarly Sealdah Express arrived here 27 hours late and Patna Sampark Kranti was late by around 25 hours,” added the official.
