Disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong's story is reportedly getting a big screen treatment.

Paramount Pictures and J J Abrams' Bad Robot have bagged the movie rights to the proposal for The New York Times sportswriter Juliet Macur's forthcoming book "Cycle of Lies: The Fall of Lance Armstrong".

The sports writer covered Armstrong since his recovery from cancer through his seven Tour de France victories to questions surrounding his use of performance enhancing drugs.

The film is getting a renewed interest in the wake of his admission to Oprah Winfrey this week about taking PEDs.

HarperCollins is bringing the book out in June.

Hollywood has shown interest in Armstrong's story. Two other projects were in the works but stalled late last year. One was to be based on his 2001 memoir 'It's Not About the Bike' while the other was being developed by Ed Pressman of 'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps' fame.

The US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) banned Armstrong from cycling for life last year and stripped him of his seven Tour de France titles.
