Prashanth spurs SJCC

Bhatath Prashanth slammed an unbeaten 56 off 36 balls to power SJCC past Vijaya College by four wickets in the College Premier League (CPL) T20 cricket tournament organised by Jain University’s Centre for Management Studies on Sunday.

Vijaya College made 121/7 in 20 overs with Nikhil GV making 35. Nilesh Meena and Zahid Zubair scalped two each. Bhatath guided the SJCC chase as they reached the target with five balls to spare. Nikhil claimed 3-18 for Vijaya College.

Prashanth was declared man of the match. SBMJC scored a facile 10-wicket win over Christ University in another match. Batting first, Christ University were restricted to 62/7 in 15 overs with Prabhakar Rajendra (3-8) and Samarth R (2-7) doing the bulk of the damage.

Openers Gaurav Goyal 39 not out (20b) and Dinesh Borwanker 24 not out (20b) took SBMJC home in the seventh over.

Gaurav was adjudged man of the match.
