Belgaum, Jan 28, 2013, DHNS: 22:56 IST
Police investigating the incident of foetus and medical waste found abandoned on the river bed near Hiranyakesi bridge, found that some hospitals near Sankeshwar town in Hukkeri taluk disposed bio-medical waste, in violation of norms.

Superintendent of Police Sandeep Patil said the police officials visited all the clinics and hospitals in Sankeshwar town and found that some of them were not disposing bio-medical wastes as per the required norms. Among the bio-medical waste found on the river bed on Sunday, some were male foetuses and uterus.

Report from the Belgaum Institute of Medical Sciences forensic experts is expected in a couple of days. Disposed syringes, bottles and other medical wastes were found along the dry river bed up to Gadhinglaj in Maharashtra, Patil said.
