The High Court, on Monday, ordered that the Chief Secretary be made a party in connection with the PIL against cat fish rearing in and around Bagalur area in the City's outskirts.

Hearing a petition by D M Moula and others, who sought action against illegal breeding of the catfish in the area, the division bench comprising acting Chief Justice K Sreedhar Rao and Justice Abdul Nazeer directed the petitioner to make Chief Secretary as a party. The court said by such inclusion, directions can be issued easily to the police and other to look into the irregularities.

The petitioners had contended that illegal breeding was causing health, environment and safety problems for local residents near Begur. Action under CrPc 133 (conditional order for removal of nuisance) should be initiated against people who are involved illegal breeding, the petition said. The bench adjourned the case for further hearing.
