There was one thing about the aero show that one couldn’t miss. Curious young boys and girls were seen taking pictures and gathering information about everything around them.

Students from across City colleges thronged the venue during the weekend to watch the metallic birds closely and try to learn more about them.

Metrolife caught up with a few students and got them talking about what interested them the most during the show. Although class 12 board exams are on in full swing, Karthik A, Mukul M and Jaya of Deeksha Centre for Learning decided to take a break from their hectic studying schedule to be there at the aero show.

Karthik and Mukul always keep a close watch on the latest developments in the aviation industry and this time, they’ve managed to inculcate that interest in their close buddy. “I can’t get enough of the stunts in the skies. I want to join the air force. I think Rafale and Su-30MKI are the best,” says Karthik.

Mukul feels that walking around the exhibition stalls are not only informative but educative as well. “You get to see these aircraft only on television and never for real. The demonstrations on how an aircraft and its technology works is interesting,” feels Mukul. Jaya adds, “I wasn’t interested in aeronautics but now, I’ve set my mind on a career in aviation.”

Whoever thought girls didn’t like the big machines are wrong. First-year students of BVSc and AH, Veterinary College, KVAFSU Campus, Hebbal, took a day off for the aero show. The girls confess that the noise of the aircraft excites them. Akshatha Desai says, “I still run out of my house whenever a plane flies past. Now, seeing all these aircraft up close is a great feeling.” Sushmitha V says, “We never get to see this on a daily basis, the planes and their technology are fascinating. I love planes.” Chingrenba Takhellamban, a second-year hotel management student from Ramaiah College of Hotel Management, just did an internship with the catering unit of the aero show. He is thrilled that he got to make friends with some of the pilots. “I get to do an internship and watch the show too. The technology involved in the planes on display and those that go up in the skies are exciting,” he shares.

Kishore, a first-year BCom student of Seshadripuram College, feels that he can have the best view from the road. “There are a bunch of us who took leave from college to watch the show. The best view is from the road side. It’s not only free but offers any aviation enthusiast a great view,” he concludes.
