Playing the girl next door

One may not have seen much of Aindrita Ray last year, but this year, she is all set with three big releases –– Rajnikantha, ‘Tony’ and Ziddi. And that’s not all, the actress recently shot for an item song for Suri’s Kaddipuddi. And she tells Metrolife that she found it very challenging.

“Yograj (Bhat) sir and Suri sir have always given me some very interesting and performance-oriented roles. Even if it’s a small role, the character is very important. In this particular song in Kaddipuddi, there is actually a story within the song. I play an innocent girl who gets into prostitution. There is so much going on in the song that makes it more than just an item number,” she adds.

Ask her why she decided to keep a low profile last year, Aindrita says, “That’s how it is for us actors. Suddenly, there are so many releases back-to-back. So you are all over the place and when you’re busy shooting, people think you are keeping a low-profile.”

But now, the actress is very excited about her releases. Though she plays the girl next door in most of them, Aindrita says, “People have always liked me in such bubbly roles. I guess they can relate to me in that and I don’t mind as long as it suits the script.”

Aindrita also wants to act in a Bengali film. “My roots are out there. I was offered a Bengali film some time back but because I didn’t have dates, I couldn’t really take it up. Now, my friends and relatives are dying to see me in a Bengali film and I am looking for a good film,” she adds.

Being the brand ambassador of the ‘Karnataka Bulldozers’ team in the ongoing ‘Celebrity Cricket League’ tournament, Aindrita has really pinned her hopes on the team winning the cup this time. “The team is looking fitter than ever and many in other industries too look at them as a strong team. Let’s hope for the best,” she wraps up.
