Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar told the Legislative Council on Friday that he would soon call a meeting of the elected representatives and subject experts to frame guidelines for the implementation of the special status to the Hyderabad-Karnataka region.

Shettar, in his reply to the debate on the State Budget 2013-14, said some of the issues pertaining to providing reservation in educational and vocational institutions in the region, need to be discussed in detail.

“I will request the Opposition leaders from the Congress party to pressure the Centre and help the State government get more funds for the development of the region,” he said. In the Assembly, Sharan Prakash Patil (Congress) and Shivaraj Tangadagi (Independent) appealed to the government to implement Article 371(J) by framing suitable guidelines at the earliest.
