Kadamba Vedike offers golden jubilee theatre treat

Various cultural programmes have been organised as a part of 50th anniversary of Kadamba Ranga Vedike, a native theatre troupe from February 19 to 23.

President of the vedike Rajashekara Kadamba elaborated on the programmes at a press meet here on Saturday. He said, Kadamba natakotsava, seminars and photography exhibitions have been organised to mark the golden jubilee celebrations.

Exhibition

The event begins with the photography exhibition about the vedike on February 19 at 4.30 pm at Sriranga, Rangayana. ‘Swarna kadamba natakotsava’ will be inaugurated by theatre artiste C Basavalingaiah at 5 pm at Vanaranga, Rangayana.

Theatre artiste Na Ratna will release the edition of ‘Bangara Bagina.’ President of Karnataka Nataka Academy Malathi Sudheer will preside over. Play ‘Dangeya munchina dinagalu,’ directed by H S Umesh will be staged at 7 pm.

Seminar

Seminar on February 20 will be inaugurated by theatre artiste G Srinivasa Kappanna, director of Rangayana B V Rajaram will preside.

Doordarshan artiste K V Nagarajamurthy will deliver a seminar on ‘theatre organisation and relationship among theatre artistes,’ artiste Jayaprakasha Gowda of Mandya will speak on ‘challenges of theatre, globalisation etc,’ Prasad Kundur will speak on ‘responsibilities and features of theatre organisation.

Troupe of Niranthara Foundation will stage plays ‘Ondu prashne, halavu prashnegalu’ and ‘Bara andre yellarigu ishta’ after 7 pm at Vanaranga.

On February 21, theatre songs by Kiragasuru Rajappa and troupe at 6.30 pm at Vanaranga and play ‘Sadarame’ at 7 pm is organised.

Theatre songs by Janardhan (Jenny), Devanand, Shivaji Jadav, Nagarathna and others will be performed on February 22 at 6.30 pm. Play ‘Ondu thopinalli’  will be staged.

Valedictory of the event will be held on February 23 at 5 pm at Vanaranga. Theatre and movie artiste C R Simha will deliver valedictory address, senior theatre artiste Yenagi Balappa will be felicitated while commissioner of Kannada and Culture directorate, Bangalore, K R Ramakrishna will preside. At 7 pm, ‘madyarathriya thiganegalu’ will be staged by Rangavalli troupe at Vanaranga.
