The BSR Congress chief B Sriramulu said on Sunday his party has decided not to have tie up with any political party in the upcoming elections to the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).

Addressing reporters, he said he will announce the party’s candidates for the ULB polls in three days and that he has already completed the consultation process for this purpose. But he did not reveal in how many seats the BSR Congress will contest. Elections will be held for 208 ULBs, including seven city corporations of Mysore, Mangalore, Dharwad, Bellary, Davanagere, Belgaum and Gulbarga.

Women are deprived of 50 per cent reservation in the ULB polls due to the negligence of the ruling BJP. The ruling party failed to furnish revised ward reservation list to the State Election Commission (SEC) before the announcement of election dates, Sriramulu alleged.

He further alleged that both the BJP and the Congress had conspired to postpone the ULB polls. The two national parties lack confidence to face the polls. But the SEC stuck to its stand and announced the elections. The BSR Congress will welcome the SEC’s decision, he added.

No differences

Actor-turned-politician Rakshita, who was reportedly had a difference with the party leaders, was present with Sriramulu during the press conference. She, however, claimed that she had no differences with the party leaders and she could not participate in the recent Raichur convention of the party due to ill health.
