A Sukhoi Su-30 fighter jet of the Indian Air Force crashed in the Pokhran range in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer district on Tuesday but the two pilots bailed out safely, officials said.
Defence spokesperson Col. S.D. Goswami said that the aircraft crashed at about 7.20 pm. “The aircraft was on a night-flying training mission,” Goswami said.
He said there was no reported damage to life or civil property. The spokesperson said a court of inquiry had been ordered into the crash. Sources said the aircraft was to participate in IAF’s day-night exercise ‘Iron Fist’ on February 22. They said a rehearsal of the exercise was held on Tuesday.
