Fake plumber arrested

Srirampura police on Tuesday arrested an unauthorised plumber following a complaint by the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board, alleging that he was drawing water illegally from main water lines.

According to BWSSB engineer Lakshminarasimhaiah, Raj posed as a plumber and helped many residents get illegal water connections. Raj is said to be in the illegal business for over six years.”The unauthorised connections he provided have led to water contamination in the area,” the engineer said.

During its disconnection drive, the Board found several unauthorised connections in Srirampura, which the agency disconnected. Following the drive, Raj threatened the engineers of ‘consequences.’

The engineer said that they were not able to get accountability for over 50 per cent of the supply in Srirampura area as there were many unauthorised connections.
