Official inauguration of flyover on March 8
The flyover over the stormwater drain (SWD) near the Gali Anjaneya temple on Mysore Road, which was thrown open to commuters on Sunday, will be officially inaugurated on Sunday.
The flyover, designed for clockwise vehicular movement, will connect commuters from West of Chord Road to Bapujinagar Junction directly. The residents of RPC Layout and Vijayanagar can also directly go to Mysore Road, instead of reaching via Deepanjali Nagar and the bottleneck near the Gali Anjaneya Temple on Mysore Road.
However, the project, executed by the National Project Constructions Corporation, was delayed by six years.
A BBMP official said, “The work was started in 2006. But due to technical glitches, including delay by the contractor, the project period was stretched.
Initially, we thought that the project would be completed at a total cost of Rs 18.31 crore. But, it increased by Rs 11.69 crore. We have opened the flyover on a trial basis. Most probably, Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar will inaugurate it.”
