Missing for the past three days, a five-year-old boy was found murdered and buried inside a small pit in northwest Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar.

Identified as Rohan, the victim was a lower kindergarten student at a government school. He had been missing from his home in Kushak village near Swarup Nagar since Thursday evening.

Unable to trace him, his parents had filed a missing report on the same day with Swaroop Nagar police station.

“We had registered a case immediately and a police team was looking for the missing boy. The family members did not got any ransom call,” said a senior police officer.
The victim’s body was recovered early morning on Sunday when a villager spotted a man moving suspiciously in an agricultural field at 3 am.

The villager raised an alarm and rushed to the spot with other residents but could not find the man anywhere. However, a hastily-dug field was found. The body of a kid, later identified as Rohan, was found buried inside with head injuries.

“We received a call that a body was spotted. We rushed to the spot and found it to be that of the missing kid Rohan. Fatal injuries to the skull was found to be the reason for the death in the initial medical examination,” said the officer.

Personal enmity angle

Police are investigating if the murder has anything to do with any personal enmities that the victim’s father Chandrabhan could possibly have with anyone in the village.

According to police, the involvement of one or more accused, who have some personal grudge cannot be completely ruled out.

Chandrabhan, who works as a security guard at a factory that manufactures RO water purifiers, has denied having any enemies. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
