Dhindsa in ACC executive board

Cycling Federation of India president Parminder Singh Dhindsa was nominated to the  executive board of the Asian Cycling Confederation in its congress on Tuesday.

This is the first time an Indian has been nominated to the decision-making body, which consists of 13 members.

“This is a major development for both Indian and the sport of cycling in the country,” said organising secretary of the championship, Onkar Singh. “Having a say in decision-making in the ACC is the best thing that can happen to Indian cycling.”

Meanwhile, after a day’s rest on Tuesday, the Asian Cycling Championships will resume at a new venue —  Buddh International Circuit — for the road races. India will pin hopes on Suresh Bishnoi, Gurmeet, Sombir Singh, Dilawar, Sunita Devi, Geeturaj.
The track events had taken place at the Indira Gandhi Velodrome.
