In its strategy to widen base by reaching out to people, the BJP is sending a national general secretary to Andhra Pradesh to express sympathies with the family of a brave dalit woman who lost her life in a valiant bid to protect her daughter from molesters.

P Muralidhar Rao will visit the family of Bethala Kantha Suneela in Tenali area of Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh on Saturday to express condolence over the tragic event that happened, showing crime against women have not declined since the Delhi gang-rape which shook the nation and compelled the government to have a re look at the criminal laws.

Condemning the barbaric incident, the BJP demanded strict punishment for perpetrators of the incident, apart from ensuring that the investigation and trial in this case should be completed using fast track mechanisms, Rao said.

Some time back, Bethala Kantha Suneela and her daughter Bethala Mounika were returning home after shopping at Gandhi Chowk, a busy market area in Tenali, when drunken offenders pounced on them in full public glare. When Suneela resisted molesters, she was thrown against a truck which ran over her causing her unfortunate death.
