Essar Ports back to profit in Q4

Essar Ports reported a net profit of Rs 92.1 crore for the quarter ended 31 March, 2013 from a loss of Rs 61.5 crore in the year ago period on the back of cost-control measures.

During the period under review, the company's revenue grew 31 per cent to Rs 389.9 crore from Rs 296.6 crore in Q4FY12.

Addressing press conference here on Thursday, Essar Ports' MD Rajiv Aggarwal said: “The company has tried to maximise its operational efficiency by keeping all the costs under control.”

Currently, Essar Ports has a capacity of 104 million tonnes per annum (mmtpa), which is being expanded to 158 mmtpa over the next few years.
