Sunil Raju stars for Friends Union

Sunil N Raju’s all-round effort spurred Friends Union Cricket Club (1) to an innings and 117-run win over Mount Joy Cricket Club in their two-day Group I, Division I league tournament for the Sir Mirza Ismail Shield.

Batting first, FUCC piled on a massive 367 for four in a mere 67 overs before declaring their innings closed. Sunil Raju was the chief architect behind FUCC’s commanding show with the bat as he scored an unbeaten 177 from 205 balls with 23 fours and four hits that cleared the fence.

In response , Mount Joy posted a meek 179 all out in 61.2 overs after FUCC’s B Naveen (4/69) and Aneesh DV (3/35) bowled them over.

Needing 189 more runs to make FUCC bat again, Mount Joy fared even worse. FUCC’s Naveen scalped another three to return with a match haul of seven as Mount Joy were out for 71 runs from 44.3 overs.
