Speaking after inaugurating 100 mini hydro electricity units installed by the SKDRDP at Madenadu on Tuesday, he said as the time passes, our culture is being fading away. The expectations and the aspirations of the people also change. As the time passes, the expenditure also increases and income is reduced. In this background, all of us should strive hard and spend less and lead a happy life.”

“It is wrong to expect all the benefits from the government. Now all of us should follow the saying that ‘work is worship’ to lead a happy life. All of us should lead a peaceful life. The tree which we have planted not only provides fruit to us, but also provides shelter and fruits to others.” Heggade said Kodagu is known for its water resources, There is a need to utilise it fully. He called upon the people to make use of technology which can be used for producing electricity at cheaper rate.

SKDRDP has taken up a pilot project to produce gobar gas, he informed.
The success of rural projects depends on discipline. People should consider government programmes as their own and work towards its success, he added. Assembly Deputy Speaker K G Bopaiah said government will provide all help towards setting up of mini hydro units in the district. Several villages do not have electricity in Kodagu district. There are lot of opportunities to undertake mini hydro power units in the district without harming the environment.

Those who do not have any knowledge on environment are coming in the way of hydro electricity units. There is a need to create an awareness on environment among people, he added.
