Tatkal applicants can now walk into Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) without getting an appointment at the Regional Passport Office in Kormanagala.

Addressing the media on Wednesday, Regional Passport Officer in-charge L Madan Kumar Reddy said tatkal applicants could now go to any of the PSKs on a walk-in basis from 9:30 am to 11 am. “Earlier, applicants had to come to the passport office in Bangalore, get a token and then go to any of the four PSKs. Now, they can go directly to the PSKs with the Application Reference Number (ARN),” he said. The four PSKs are located in Bangalore, Mangalore and Hubli-Dharwad.

Other changes introduced are: Those applying for passports on a normal basis can go to the Passport Office if they have any medical or educational urgency, visa interviews or for job purposes. These applicants can visit from 10 am to 12 pm and obtain a walk-in appointment to submit their application. Proof of urgency will have to be furnished to obtain a walk-in appointment.

A Passport Mela will also be held at all PSKs on June 8, 2013.

The mela will be appointment-based and the appointments will have to be obtained online on June 1, 2013. No walk-ins will be allowed during the mela.

Applicants have been requested to book appointments and report at the respective PSKs at the given reporting time with a print of the appointment receipt and valid documents. No tatkal appointments will be allowed during the mela.

A passport adalat will also be held on May 29 to redress the grievances of passport applicants who applied more than six months ago.
