“Relief is not reaching the people affected by unprecedented floods in North Karnataka due to the squabbling in the ruling BJP. Relief works should take precedence over politics in the present juncture. Reddy brothers are ready to help the flood victims and hence I have decided to lend my support to them,” Prakash said.

He was speaking after launching ambulance service under Arogya Kavacha scheme at a function in Kylanur in the taluk on Saturday.

The legislator said that there has been large-scale irregularities in implementation of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. Several complaints have already been received. The Union government, in view of the irregularities is mulling over cancelling the scheme itself. Hence, it would be prudent to ensure transparency in the implementation of the Scheme, Varthur observed.

“Villagers have brought to my notice that there is shortage of doctors for night shift in the Primary Health Centre in Kyalanur. I am also told that there is no Revenue Inspector for the village. I will try to address the issue,” he said.

Taluk Panchayat president V B Udayashankar, member Rizwan, Zilla Panchayat member Naganal Somanna, District Health Officer Dr N Ramesh Babu, Taluk Medical Officer Narayanaswamy, Gram Panchayat president Nagarathnamma, members Ramanna, Chand and others were present on the occasion.
