Rape attempt on minor

An inebriated man allegedly attempted to rape a minor girl near her house at Ashwath Nagar in Thanisandra on Tuesday evening.

According to police, eight-year-old Rukmini (name changed) was playing near her house when Wasim, who was passing by the house in an inebriated state, saw the girl and forced her to accompany him to a building under construction nearby.

A few neighbours who heard the cries of Rukmini reached the place and caught the suspect in the heinous act.

Wasim fled the scene when the crowd arrived. The neighbours took Rukmini to her father, Devan (name changed), who admitted her to Bowring Hospital for a medical examination.

He also lodged a complaint against Wasim at the Hennur police station.

The neighbours managed to apprehend Wasim from his place of hiding and handed him over to the police. The police arrested him and took him to Bowring Hospital for a medical examination.
