As many as 130 government school teachers of Bangalore Division received transfer orders on Monday at the transfer counselling session here on Monday.

As per the original schedule, 300 teachers were to have undergone transfer formalities, but a slow server caused the delay. The session scheduled to end at 5.30 pm stretched till around 7 pm.

The venue — Shikshakara Sadana on K G Road — was swarmed with teachers from all districts under the educational division.

Teachers seek transfer for reasons wide and varied. Suresh Wadkar’s wife has been seeking a transfer since 2006 with little luck.

“She travels from Yeshwantpur to the school at Devanahalli (Bangalore Rural district). Travelling a one-way distance of 35 to 40 kilometers every day is something that really takes a lot out of you. We hope she gets lucky this time,” said Suresh. The ongoing transfer counselling for all educational divisions in the State will continue till the end of the July.
