City techie drowns in Sweden

Bangalore, July 19, 2013, dhns:
Jaiprakash
A weekend outing turned into a tragedy for a Bangalore software engineer’s family in Sweden, when the techie, Jaiprakash, drowned in a lake.

Jaiprakash, a Basavanagudi resident, was deputed to an on-site project to Sweden by the Wipro Technologies. He was staying with his wife Anupama and four-year-old daughter Shristi at Stockholm. The incident occurred during the first weekend of July, when Jaiprakash’s family had gone on a weekend trip to a fresh-water lake, nearby.

It is said that Jaiprakash went for a dip in the water, while Anupama and Shrishti stood near the lake. A few minutes later, Jaiprakash drowned even as his wife and daughter watched haplessly. A shocked Anupama cried for help and collapsed. Some passers-by, who noticed Shrishti crying rushed Anupama to a local hospital and Shrishti to a day care. Jaiprakash’s body was fished out three days later.

Jaiprakash’s parents Narasimayya and Sandhya, along with his two younger brothers, Ravikiran and Haricharan reside on Old Veterinary Road, off Nettakallappa Circle in Basavanagudi. The news of Jaiprakash's death was intimated to the family by the company and, his body was cremated at Sweden on Thursday.
