Girl choses to go with parents after being with another girl

A 22-year-old girl, whose father had approached the Kerala High Court alleging she had been "abducted" by another girl with the help of a Bangalore-based lesbian rights group, was today permitted by the court to go with her parents.

The direction was issued by a division bench comprising Justices Antony Dominic and P D Rajan while disposing of a Habeas corpus petition filed by the girl's father.

According to the petitioner, P S Mohanan of Shornur, his daughter, a final year B.Com stduent had failed to return from college on July 5 and since then she was under "wrongful confinement" by another girl in Bangalore under the control of the a trust taking up the cause of lesbian rights.

On the direction of the court, the trust produced the girl in the court today and submitted an affidavit signed by her in which it was stated that she desired to stay with the other girl.

However, when the bench questioned her, she expressed ignorance regarding the contents of the affidavit and informed that she was willing to go with her parents.

It was further stated that the contents of the affidavit was not explained to her.

Following this, the bench directed the girl to interact with her parents following which she expressed willingness to live with them.

The bench directed that sufficient police protection be given to the girl and her parents.
