Karnataka, Andhra enter Buchi Babu quarterfinals

The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, its President’s XI side, defending champions Karnataka and Andhra have qualified for the quarterfinals of the all-India Buchi Babu tournament at the end of the its second round matches here on Monday.

With Bengal having lost both matches, Karnataka and Andhra made the progress from Group A. Karnataka will led by R Vinay Kumar in the rest of the meet while CM Gautam will report at the India A camp beginning in Bangalore on Wednesday.

Brief scores: Group A: Andhra: 303 all out in 81.1 overs (K S Bharat 45, D B Prashanth 79, K Bharat  Reddy 74,  A G Pradeep 53; Sourav Mondal 5-51, Amir Goni 3-86) bt Bengal: 227 all out in 62 overs (Anustup Majumdar 53, Abhimanyu Easwaran 43, Arnab Nandi 34; G V S Prasad 6-66, B Sudhakar 2-52). Andhra: 4 points; Bengal: 0.

Group B: Tripura: 221 in 69.2 overs lt to TNCA XI: 224 for five in 86.1 overs (K Bharath Shankar 133 n.o., Rahil S Shah 42; Sanjoy Majumder 2-40, Viki Saha 2-51). TNCA XI: 4; Tripura: 0. Group C: TNCA Districts: 132 in 80.4 overs lt to Hyderabad: 136/7 in 49.5 overs (P Akshath Reddy 56, Hanuma Vihari 40, T Natarajan 2-29, J Kousik 2-8). Hyderabad: 4; TNCA Districts: 0.
